what is caring ?

I have a kind hearted friend whom I hang around from time to time and I feel like a cold person in her presence trying to figure out what makes caring people care. I've ask her indirect questions to figure out her sociological model but I'd like to know more. Does it go beyond being liked or being popular? Or is it because that's how they wish to be treated? Possibly even, that it's akward to see people that aren't happy or properly acknowledged? Caring, is well wanting another person to do well in life, I care because I hate to see people fail, caring people ussally have alot of friends because they are nice and ussally fun to be around, I dunno I can help but care, and I hate to see sad people, and it feels good to laugh. It takes a friend to be a friend, but other than that I can't explain People care because they have a heart. You have a need and drive to help in all the ways that you can. But in my case I go too far or much farther than I was willing to go. You treat people with compassion and love because it is a natural thing to do. But many people care nothing of helping others. I saw my Grandmother care give to friends, relatives and her church. She was a very loving person. So it comes natural to me...
